About the position
Are you a seasoned development professional who is passionate about local history and “cowboy” culture?
The Cave Creek Museum is seeking a skilled development professional to help us preserve the artifacts of the Cave Creek and Carefree Foothills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Development and working with the organization's staff and volunteers.
The Advancement/Fundraising Specialist position focuses on enhancing our fundraising program by leading staff and dedicated volunteers to meet annual fundraising goals and ensure the Museum’s long-term financial sustainability.
This new part-time position reports to the Executive Director and will receive support from staff and volunteers in marketing, programming, and event management. The ideal candidate will lead annual fundraising efforts and be a key member of the leadership team, with the potential for a full-time role. This candidate may work remotely but must live in the general area of Cave Creek and be able to meet in person and attend Museum activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnering with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Volunteers to determine the fundraising growth necessary to meet objectives and to track progress toward goals.
- Conducting Donor Outreach to request and secure major gifts of support by connecting with potential donors and business partners through phone calls, emails and online platforms, as well as in-person meetings.
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and events.
- Create and oversee digital fundraising activities. Maintain the accuracy of the museum's existing databases and ensure new contact information is updated.
Requirements
Essential Skills
- Creative, results-oriented, highly organized and self-directed and a good understanding of fundraising best practices.
- Proficiency in using software platforms including DonorPerfect, ConstantContact, LighSpeed, PastPerfect, Excel, Word, Outlook and others.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
Qualifications
- Five years of direct experience in fundraising, advancement, or development roles in the nonprofit sector.
- Event management experience to further engagement opportunities and steward event attendees.
- Collaborate on marketing materials, promotions, and social media communications.
- Ability to network and build strong relationships.
