Job DescriptionThe University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dentistry (UMSOD) is seeking an Annual Giving Officer I to join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Assistant Director will be responsible for planning alumni programs, including virtual and in-person events, leading the UMSOD Alumni presence on social media, and assisting with fundraising operations by engaging alumni to create a pipeline of annual giving donors and cultivating strong relationships with major gifts prospects.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.
Primary Duties:
- Plan and coordinate the alumni calendar, facilitating 10+ events (virtual and in-person) per year for the School's 8,500 alumni.
- Events include mentoring events, alumni receptions, and the annual All-Alumni Reunion.
- Act as the School's main point of contact for all alumni.
- Create, cultivate, and manage the alumni mentorship program, UMSOD Connect, on LinkedIn with over 150 alumni and student mentors.
- Assist with the management of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, providing support in facilitating meetings and working closely with the Alumni Association President and Executive Board to meet the Board's goals. Assist with and plan Alumni Association virtual and in-person meetings, involving 20+ Alumni Association Board members.
- Meet with 10+ alumni/month to discuss the school and build relationships between the school and alumni. These meetings take place virtually and in-person.
- Manage and purchase products for the alumni promotional project program.
- Work within the donor database (Advance) to run reports for the Office of Development & Alumni Relations, which assists with all fundraising efforts for the School of Dentistry
- Maintain and update donor database to reflect updated alumni contact information. Write contact reports for communications between the Office of Development & Alumni Relations and donors/alumni.
- Work with UMBF Research, IT, and Annual Giving staff to update database and keep content current.
- Identify potential alumni donors and work with fellow School of Dentistry staff to work on a plan of solicitation.
- Assist with year-end fundraising initiatives to work towards the unit's fiscal year goal of $4.5 million.
- Work closely with the Office of Communications to create marketing materials for alumni events, the UMSOD website, and social media.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two (2) years of development experience in annual giving, phonathons, alumni relations, special events, or fundraising, or higher education development experience.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Hiring Range: $62,000 - $68,000, commensurate with education and experience
