Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing leadership in the articulation of the critical role of private philanthropy to the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). This position is charged with maintaining a portfolio of leadership annual gift and major gift prospects and donors through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship programming. This position is "high touch" which necessitates in-person communication with donors and potential donors, attendance at appropriate conferences and events, and frequent local and regional travel in addition to some nation-wide travel.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Experience in successful fundraising solicitations and demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing fundraising plans for major initiatives. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong self-initiative; exceptional attention to detail and organization; professionalism; emotional intelligence; and well-developed listening skills. Additionally, employees will need to be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion and will need to be willing to be a part of the larger development efforts of the University of Georgia. Candidates will need to be able to travel in and out of state, have flexibility to work some nights and weekends. Word processing; database management; and email skills are important.

Portfolio Management & Solicitation
- Plans, coordinates, and implements strategies to identify leadership annual giving (LAG) ($25,000+) & major gift prospects ($50,000+) through prospecting.
- Conducts extensive outreach via email and phone calls to secure in-person meetings with prospects and donors to qualify them as a major gift and/or LAG donor
- Interactions recorded in database
- Face-to-face meetings (minimum of 144 meetings per year)
- Qualification of LAG and major gift prospects
- LAG and Major gift solicitations
- Collaborations with DAR colleagues
- Development of prospect portfolio
- Hosting donors and prospects for CVM tours, events, conferences and other functions
- Development and management of internal relationships with key faculty and staff to further development efforts with donors and prospects
- Other tasks and responsibilities within the purpose and scope major gift fundraising
- Performs all work requirements according to UGA, UGA Foundation, and CVM policies and procedures.
CVM DAR Support
• Support CVM Development and Alumni Relations team through furthering annual giving efforts, executing engagement initiatives and events, and fulfilling donor relations best practices with CVM donors.
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities

• The normal work day is 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. However, this role may require some travel, night, and weekend duties in fulfillment of the responsibilities of the position. Additional duties will be required on Alumni Weekend, Dean's Tailgate, and at other special events which frequently fall on nights and/or weekends.
• Attend meetings and events as appropriate: including periodic Development & Alumni Relations meetings and representing College of Veterinary Medicine as needed at external events.
• Supports the rest of the CVM Development & Alumni Relations team through furthering annual giving efforts, executing engagement initiatives, and fulfilling donor relations best practices.
• Participate in planning exercises, professional development events, team meetings, retreats, and other activities that build team culture and capabilities.
• Other duties as assigned in line with this job description.
