- Campaign Manager - Sam Wang for Congress (NJ-12 Democratic Primary)
Description
Location: New Jersey's 12th Congressional District (Princeton/Mercer/Middlesex/Somerset area) — must be local or able to relocate immediately
Type: Full-time, Contract through June 2 primary (with potential extension through November general)
About the Campaign: Sam Wang is a Princeton neuroscientist, democracy reformer, and founder of the Princeton Gerrymandering Project running for Congress in NJ-12. Sam's expert testimony helped end New Jersey's "county line" ballot system — and now he's running in the fair primary he helped create. This is an open-seat race in a D+13 district with a crowded primary field. The June 2 primary is the whole ballgame. Learn more: SamForNJ.org
The Role: We need a Campaign Manager to run day-to-day operations for an intense 3-month primary sprint. You'll be the person on the ground making things happen — managing volunteers, organizing events, building local relationships, and keeping the campaign on track.
This role is focused on field and operations. We already have a national digital consultant handling ads, direct mail, and text/email fundraising. You'll coordinate with them but your focus is local: doors, events, endorsements, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Manage campaign schedule, logistics, and day-to-day operations
Recruit, train, and deploy volunteers for canvassing, phone banking, and events
Organize candidate events, house parties, and community appearances
Coordinate with county Democratic committees across four counties (Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Union)
Staff the candidate at forums, endorsement meetings, and public events
Build relationships with local electeds, activists, and community leaders
Track voter contact goals and field metrics
Coordinate with digital/fundraising consultant on integrated strategy
Why This Race
NJ-12 is one of the most diverse districts in America — majority Asian, Black, and Hispanic. It's an open seat with no incumbent. And thanks to the end of the county line, it's a genuinely competitive primary where organizing can make the difference.
Sam is running on democracy reform, protecting science and research, abolishing ICE, and restoring Congress as a check on executive power. If you want to help elect a reformer who's already changed the system — and do it in a race where your work will matter — this is it.
