- Chief Development Officer

Position Summary
CIS has provided support for students and increased our service footprint and community partnerships consistently for the past 33 years. Most recently, CIS completed a successful capital campaign. As we look to the future, it is time to elevate the impact of the Development team. The Chief Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the organization’s fundraising and marketing strategies to meet annual fundraising goals and expand community engagement with CIS. In partnership with the Development team, CEO, and Board of Directors, this role is responsible for increasing support from individuals, foundations, corporations, special events, and volunteers. This position supervises multiple Development team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- As part of the Executive team, provide strong vision and leadership, promote a culture of teamwork, and develop a culture of philanthropy within CIS.
- Develop and implement new fundraising and community engagement initiatives to increase donor support and expand our donor base
- Provide strong supervision and accountability to the Development team to ensure each staff member’s goals are met
- Partner with CEO and Development team members to increase giving from individual donors through solicitation of major gifts, stewardship and retention of loyal donors, and acquisition of new donors
- Regularly meet with and maintain strong relationships with philanthropic stakeholders
- Conduct and ensure ongoing donor prospect research
- Collect and analyze donor data to inform fundraising and marketing strategies
- Implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to raise awareness of CIS
- Work collaboratively with program staff to plan donor and volunteer engagement events, ensure branding consistency, and provide student outcomes data to stakeholders
- Work closely with CFO for budgeting, goal setting/tracking, and financial reporting
- Work collaboratively, at times, with other CIS professionals throughout the state and national network
- Assist with other fundraising or community engagement projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of successful fundraising experience, with a successful track record of raising funds from a variety of sources
- Experience in direct staff supervision
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate the mission and work of CIS, share success stories, and communicate impact to key stakeholders
- Strong project management skills with great attention to detail
- Knowledge of and experience with the Fort Worth philanthropic community
- Experienced in research techniques for fundraising prospect research
- Experience in utilizing donor database software
- Knowledge of marketing strategy and social media platforms
- Extensive experience with managing a budget, donation tracking, and reporting
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Qualifications
- CFRE preferred
- Creative design experience preferred (InDesign, Canva, etc.)
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, donor database software
