Description
The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing Homeless Youth Connection’s mission by growing and sustaining philanthropic support from individuals and businesses. This position is ideal for a relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives on building trust, telling powerful stories, and inspiring community members to invest in lasting change for youth experiencing homelessness.
As a member of the Development Department, the Development Manager is responsible for cultivating, expanding, and stewarding a diverse donor portfolio through thoughtful engagement, strategic solicitation, and exceptional stewardship. This individual serves as a visible ambassador for HYC, representing the organization with professionalism, authenticity, and passion throughout the community.
Requirements
Essential Responsibilities:
- Build and steward long-term relationships with individual donors and community partners, with a primary focus on individual giving.
- Manage an active donor portfolio, including prospecting new donors, retaining and upgrading existing donors, and ensuring timely, personalized communication.
- Develop and execute donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate closely with development team members to create engaging giving opportunities for individuals and businesses, including program sponsorships, cause-related marketing, online giving initiatives, and employee giving campaigns.
- Conduct tours, presentations, and donor meetings to deepen understanding of HYC’s mission and impact.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records in the database, including acknowledgments, recognition, and reporting.
- Oversee timely donor acknowledgments and recognition, ensuring a high-quality donor experience.
- Provide logistical and communication support for special events, promotions, and third-party fundraising efforts.
- Stay informed about HYC programs, outcomes, and trends in youth homelessness and nonprofit fundraising.
- Actively participate in community events and networking opportunities, serving as a trusted representative and advocate for the organization.
Necessary Skills and Requirements:
- Proven nonprofit fundraising experience, including donor cultivation, relationship management, and donor communications.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with confidence engaging both individuals and groups.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project-management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines with accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse audiences.
- Critical thinking skills and comfort in analyzing donor data to inform strategy.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including multiple generations and across ethnic and racial backgrounds.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort using donor databases and general office systems.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Reliable personal transportation with current registration and required insurance.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to pass a felony background check and drug screening.
- This is a hybrid position, which includes scheduled days to work from the office and in the field/community.
