Villanova University is organized in a semi-decentralized model, with school-based development officers supported by centralized University Advancement services. The Development Officer for the Charles Widger School of Law (CWSL) will represent Villanova University and Villanova Law, with primary responsibility for establishing and managing effective relationships with leadership annual giving prospects capable of supporting strategic priorities of the Law School.
The Development Officer, CWSL, under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations, CWSL, identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards alumni and friends with the capacity to make leadership-level annual gifts ($2,500 or more) and multi-year commitments. The portfolio will consist primarily of prospects rated between $25,000 and $100,000. The Development Officer is expected to conduct 12-14 prospect visits per month and manage a portfolio of 150-175 individuals, collaborating regularly with the Director of Leadership Annual Giving to ensure alignment with best practices and standards across the Development Officer team within the Villanova Annual Fund.
In addition to managing a leadership annual giving portfolio, the Development Officer plays a meaningful role in growing broad-based support for Villanova Law by supporting key annual giving initiatives, including 1842 Day fundraising initiatives and events, the 3L Class Gift Program, and Veritas Society for Young Alumni Giving.

- Identify and manage a portfolio of 150-175 leadership annual giving prospects rated between $25,000 and $100,000, which includes primarily alumni and friends with an affiliation and/or giving interest within the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University.
- Establish and manage effective relationships with portfolio prospects and donors. Plan and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, design personalized engagement approaches, and secure annual and multi-year commitments.
- Conduct 12-14 prospect visits per month and assume stewardship responsibilities for assigned prospects.
- Manage key annual giving and engagement initiatives, including the 3L Class Gift Program, the Veritas Society for Young Alumni Giving, and planning of 1842 Day fundraising challenges and donor engagement.
- Serve as a point of contact for general donor inquiries received via email, phone, mail, social media or other channels, ensuring timely and accurate follow-up.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- The incumbent is required to have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with a minimum of one year as a front-line fundraiser/client services representative preferred.
- Proven successful experience in individual fundraising or related sales/business development experience required.
- Commitment to higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University and champion its mission required.
- Understanding of the University culture and the process for decision making and program development required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- The incumbent must be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment, as well as a disciplined self-starter who is results-oriented.
