POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Specialist will provide oversight and leadership to Dallas CASA’s fundraising database as well as manage all invitation, membership, and solicitation mailings. In addition, he or she will be responsible for all development reporting and analysis and serve as a key advisor in the areas of gift acceptance policies and the gifts and records program. The Development Specialist also serves as the liaison for the Young Professionals, helping to direct and guide the work of this auxiliary group.
Essential Functions
- Primary person responsible for donor records, processing gifts, reconciling accounts in Raiser’s Edge and sending notice to donors regarding upcoming pledge payment deadlines.
- Primary person responsible for the Development income tools and systems.
- Process gifts and pledges daily as well as ensure that gift receipts are issued within three days of receipt of gifts.
- Responsible for the management of all aspects of Development data to include prospect records, gift compliance and Raiser’s Edge accuracy.
- Prepares all development reports for the Dallas CASA Development Committee/CDO.
- Serves as the chief liaison to Dallas CASA’s Finance Department. Responsible for reconciliation processes between Finance and Development.
- Implements and manages all key systems including coordination with mail, print, and out-sourced companies in used for solicitations and mailings utilizing Raiser’s Edge.
- Assist the Donor Relations Manager with the execution of year-end appeal.
- Participates in planning meetings, and coordinates receipt and tracking of all sponsorships, donations, and pledges for the Dallas CASA Classic Golf Tournament.
- Provide additional support for the Development Department as needed to include meeting coordination and preparation of materials.
Other Functions
- Serves as a resource for the development team.
- Assist with special events and attend staff meetings.
- Participate in programs of public recognition for volunteer advocates.
- In accordance with the Dallas CASA team philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.
Agency Duties
- Maintain a professional demeanor that promotes community respect for Dallas CASA, as well as productive stakeholder relationships.
- Work collaboratively with team members and other staff, offer support for fundraising or other events when volunteers are needed, participate in projects that promote agency morale and effectiveness, etc.
- Promote, protect, and maintain confidentiality of child- and case-related information.
Professional Development
Required to complete and keep a record of 12-hours of annual professional development related to the Dallas CASA mission and/or to the specific roles and responsibilities of the position. A combination of both is acceptable.
Supervisory Responsibility
This has no direct supervisory responsibility.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR relevant working experience in the nonprofit field.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Impeccable communication skills, including a positive, professional attitude and demeanor and high levels
of responsibility, integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity. - Must have proven skills in Raiser’s Edge software.
Physical Demands
- Position requires the ability to lift 35 pounds minimum for lifting files and office supplies, opening filing cabinets and to transport materials to and from meetings, presentations and to other locations as needed.
- Intermittent physical activities which included driving, bending, reaching, sitting, climbing steps, and walking during working hours.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. Our building is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In consultation with the direct supervisor for the role, the standard work schedule should begin between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and should reflect eight hours of work daily in addition to any lunch breaks. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel
This position may require some travel. You must have reliable transportation, maintain a current valid Texas driver's license and $100,000/$300,000 automobile liability insurance for travel to and from meetings and presentations.
