Job Title: Director of Advancement ServicesDepartment: Institutional Advancement
FLSA: Exempt
Location: Philadelphia, PA - Hybrid
Position Summary
The Director of Advancement Services provides strategic leadership and oversight of advancement operations, with a particular focus on data management, donor services, reporting, and CRM strategy using Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). Leveraging over 10 years of experience in higher education fundraising, the Director ensures that the entire advancement team has the tools, technology, and insights needed to cultivate and solicit gifts, close and engage donors, steward gifts, and meet ambitious fundraising goals. The individual best suited for this position will possess a strong viewpoint and be able to innovate and create meaningful change in our processes and systems. This is an opportunity to redesign, not simply streamline, our current operations. We are looking for a revolutionary and a visionary who wont take no for an answer.
ESSENTIAL SUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• CRM & Data Management (Salesforce NPSP):
\to Serve as the primary administrator and strategic lead for Salesforce NPSP.
\to Oversee data governance, quality control, and system integrations across advancement functions.
\to Design and implement workflows, reports, and dashboards in Salesforce NPSP tailored for fundraising, prospect research, stewardship, and campaign tracking.
\to Collaborate with IT and external vendors for customizations, data migrations, and upgrades.
• Operational Leadership:
\to Lead a team responsible for gift processing, data services, reporting, annual giving, and prospect management.
\to Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CASE standards, IRS guidelines, and institutional policies.
\to Partner with frontline fundraisers and leadership to provide accurate, timely donor insights and campaign analytics.
• Strategic Planning & Collaboration:
\to Contribute to long-term strategic planning for advancement, including campaign readiness and technology roadmaps.
\to Work closely with Advancement Engagement, Advancement Communications, and Finance departments to align data and operations across the institution.
\to Train and support staff in maximizing the use of Salesforce NPSP and related tools (e.g., GiveCampus, FormAssembly, Salesforce Experience Cloud, Analytics Studio, or similar).
• Fundraising Support:
\to Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize fundraising performance, prospect engagement and management, and donor stewardship.
\to Manage gift acceptance policies, donor segmentation, reporting, and analytics.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in advancement services within higher education.
• Deep expertise in Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), including system configuration and end-user support.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex data systems and supporting multi-million-dollar fundraising campaigns.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Member of AASP preferred.
• Experience with data visualization/reporting tools.
Starting Salary: $70,000 annually
