Sonoma Land Trust seeks a forward-thinking Director of Conservation to shape and implement its strategic conservation initiatives, manage a team of talented experts, forge effective partnerships, and support the Land Trust’s long-term impact.
The Director of Conservation is a key leadership role within the Sonoma Land Trust, responsible for advancing the organization's ambitious conservation strategies. This forward-thinking individual will lead the Conservation Programs Team, which includes the Acquisitions, Stewardship, Policy and Funding, and Science Departments. By working closely with the Executive Director, the Director will play a vital role in shaping organization-wide strategies and ensuring that conservation goals are effectively integrated into the broader mission of the Land Trust. The Director will foster a collaborative team culture that accelerates impactful conservation efforts while aligning resources and initiatives across various departments, including fundraising, marketing, and community engagement.
The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience in conservation leadership and a deep understanding of ecosystem dynamics, biodiversity protection, and climate resilience. They should have a proven track record of managing large-scale, complex projects and the ability to translate strategic goals into actionable plans that lead to tangible conservation outcomes. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the Director will need to inspire internal teams and build important partnerships with external stakeholders, including funders and policymakers, to enhance the effectiveness and reach of Sonoma Land Trust's initiatives.
