Director of Development — Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO)

CYSO seeks a Director of Development who will be responsible for crafting and executing successful strategies for managing and increasing contributed revenue streams for CYSO. The Director of Development will report to and work closely with the Executive Director in developing solicitation, prospecting, and stewardship strategies to meet (and exceed) budgeted revenue goals. They will also work alongside the Board of Directors to develop and advance stronger corporate partnerships for the organization. The Director of Development manages a team of four direct reports (Development Coordinator, Marketing Specialist, and part-time Grant Writer) and is responsible for ensuring that CYSO fundraising initiatives fully support the organization's current and future endeavors.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategic thinking, planning, and execution of fundraising to support a vibrant and sustainable organization 
• Manage the successful execution of individual, foundation, corporate, and government solicitations to meet the budgeted goals, including drafting and submitting grant applications and final reports with support from the team’s part-time grantwriter.
• Contribute to the annual gala's success, maximizing the event's fundraising potential.
• Be representative of CYSO in special donor events including pre-concert dinners, the Companion Tour accompanying CYSO international and domestic tours, and other social events.

What We’re Looking For:

• 4-6 years of development experience with a proven track record of successful engagement.
• Team management experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for music, education, and youth development.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $100,000–$105,000 salary plus health/dental insurance, 403B retirement plan with match, and generous PTO.
• Hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week.
