TITLE: Director of Development
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Additional hours will be required outside of normal business hours or as set forth by the demands of the position, up to and including evenings and weekends.
SUMMARY: The Director of Development (DOD) will design and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to secure private sector financial support for the ongoing operating needs, capital requirements, programming needs, and research grants. This individual directs WOKC’s fundraising activities, including targeted large-scale appeals, and monitors the effectiveness of all fundraising activities.
This individual reports to the CEO and works with the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, as well as staff and volunteers to enhance the mission, goals, and objectives of WOKC.
At all times the DOD represents WOKC with the highest integrity and personal conduct within the business and social communities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
General
o Creates the Annual Development Plan for WOKC, under the direction of the CEO.
o Researches, develops, and implements fundraising strategies and techniques, which will meet defined goals, including annual campaign, major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
o Works with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to generate increasing contributions from individuals, organizations, corporations, foundations, and special events to meet both WOKC funding needs.
o Designs marketing strategies to support and ensure the success of all fundraising endeavors.
o Oversees documentation of gifts to ensure accurate and timely recognition of all donors.
o Oversees the WOKC donor database to ensure accurate and current donor records.
o Develops and monitors all development related program budgets.
o Directs all fundraising activities of WOKC.
o Assures compliance with all IRS regulations.
Fundraising and Corporate and Major Giving:
o Develop a donor-centric and strategic major gifts plan using an integrated matrix of solutions including direct mail, email, social media personal visits/solicitations and donor engagement focused on attracting new and retaining existing individuals, foundations and companies.
o Maintain donor stewardship steps for each pledged donor and work with to manage data entry into the donor stewardship database.
o Assist with the identification and training of key leadership for using database with Database Manager.
o Supervise data entry into CRM to track donor prospect cultivation and solicitation.
o Manage planned giving program and secure planned gifts.
Marketing and Public Relations:
o Develop, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications Manager to create proposals, promotional brochures, and other print and electronic collateral material to enhance the image of WOKC in the community.
o Represents WOKC to the community through personal contact and public speaking opportunities.
Donor Data Base (Bloomerang):
o Monitors database to ensure that donor records are accurate and current.
o Utilizes database to broaden and increase donor activity.
Board Development/Board Participation:
o Attends Board Meetings and all other designated committee meetings as requested.
o Provides information on development activity.
Other duties as directed by CEO or administrator in-charge.

Requirements
5+ Years Nonprofit Development Experience
Work history in DFW area.
