What You’ll Do
As the Director of Endowments and Gift Planning, you will:
Build and steward relationships with donors who wish to make lasting gifts through endowments and estate planning.
Lead SPU’s planned giving strategy, offering guidance in estate planning, deferred giving, and donor stewardship.
Manage a portfolio of prospective and current donors with the capacity to make significant planned or endowment gifts.
Oversee the establishment of new endowments, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with university policy.
Design and execute strategic marketing initiatives that promote planned giving and endowment opportunities.
Collaborate closely with the Advancement team, integrating gift planning strategies into overall fundraising efforts.
Supervise or mentor staff and support the broader goals of the University Advancement division.
Requirements
Who You Are
You are an enthusiastic advancement professional with:
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Ideally, 5+ years of experience in planned giving or related work (such as estate planning, legal, or major gifts).
A solid understanding of planned giving vehicles and relevant tax laws—or the aptitude and willingness to learn quickly.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
A maturing and active Christian faith, a personal commitment to SPU’s mission, alignment with the SPU Statement of Faith, and a willingness to embrace the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Willingness and ability to travel, primarily within the U.S.
Bonus: A J.D. with specialization in estate planning is a plus, but not required
