Position Description for: Director of Membership & Partners
Location: Phoenix, AZ; currently AZ Impact for Good operates in a hybrid work environment.
Travel: Required periodically, depending on location of in-person events throughout the state
Hours: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Monday-Friday with flexible hours within a normal workday timeframe (6am-6pm for example).
Reports To: CEO
Supervises: This position does not currently have any direct reports.
Salary: $75,000-80,000 per year; benefits include employer-paid health insurance, tele-doc, vision, dental, life, AD&D and short-term and long-term disability; 401k with employer match; work-from-home stipend; unlimited PTO policy; paid holidays; and flexible work schedule.
Position Summary
The Director of Membership & Partners plays a critical role in driving the success and growth of AZ Impact for Good by meeting and exceeding key sales and revenue targets. This role is directly responsible for executing strategies to recruit new members, retain existing ones, and engage stakeholders through high-impact sponsorship, educational, and signature events. The Director of Membership & Partners will be expected to drive results and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to meeting membership and revenue goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Membership Strategy: Define and execute aggressive strategies to recruit, retain, and engage members, with a strong focus on achieving annual sales and revenue goals.
Achieve Membership and Revenue Goals: Implement and drive AZ Impact for Good’s overall membership and revenue objectives, ensuring that both recruitment and retention efforts meet or exceed targets.
Drive Growth: Actively communicate AZ Impact for Good’s mission, building relationships with prospective members, business partners, and stakeholders, and persuading them to join and invest in the organization’s work.
Relationship Management: Utilize a deep understanding of nonprofit challenges to develop strategic relationships with members, providing value through tailored resources, support, and rapid response to needs.
Maximize Member Experience: Ensure that all new members have a seamless onboarding experience and remain highly engaged, leading to long-term retention and growth.
Monitor and Optimize: Conduct regular check-ins with members to assess satisfaction, identify new needs, and troubleshoot any issues. Consistently adjust strategy to align with member expectations and maximize retention.
Resolve Member Issues: Proactively resolve member concerns and issues in a manner that reinforces member commitment and satisfaction, ensuring positive outcomes.
Event Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and manage high-impact membership events and programs that drive member engagement and revenue, including sponsorship opportunities for AZ Impact for Good’s events.
Expand Sponsorship Engagement: Actively identify, pursue, and secure new sponsorship opportunities, aligning with AZ Impact for Good’s mission while driving additional revenue streams.
Represent and Advocate: Serve as a visible advocate for AZ Impact for Good, promoting the organization’s value proposition at events, with stakeholders, and within the community.
Collaborative Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with peers across organizations to enhance collaboration and leverage best practices that benefit membership and revenue growth.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
The Director of Membership & Partners position requires various prerequisite skills, abilities and qualifications needed for success, including:
Required
Proven Track Record: 3-5 years of experience in customer service, sales, or membership recruitment, with a demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales/revenue goals.
Strategic Sales Focus: A results-driven mindset with the ability to develop and implement strategies that achieve measurable outcomes in membership recruitment and retention.
Revenue Generation Expertise: Strong experience driving membership and sponsorship revenue, with the ability to motivate a team toward achieving ambitious financial targets.
General understanding of nonprofit organizations’ challenges, opportunities, and needs.
Conflict Resolution: Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to navigate challenging situations and maintain positive, long-term relationships with members.
Metrics-Driven: Expertise in setting, evaluating, and reporting on membership and revenue metrics to ensure continuous performance improvement.
Effective Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
Desire and ability to work within a team.
Relationship Building: Skilled at developing and maintaining business relationships, with a keen ability to cultivate loyalty and support from members and partners.
Highly Organized: Ability to manage multiple priorities, events, and relationships simultaneously while ensuring that deadlines and revenue targets are consistently met.
Tech Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office Suite, database management systems, and teleconferencing tools.
Commitment to Mission: A deep commitment to AZ Impact for Good’s values and mission, with the ability to advocate for the organization effectively in all interactions.
Preferred
Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropy/grantmaking, or association sectors.
Previous experience driving membership revenue and fundraising is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
The person in this position will occasionally lift or move objects of moderate weight (i.e., boxes of printed materials, supplies or meeting tables) and assorted items needed for meeting set-up (i.e., conference telephone, catering, video camera). The person must be able to frequently operate a computer and remain in a stationary position. A valid Arizona driver’s license is required. This position may require working beyond regular hours as required for event planning and delivery.
