ABOUT US
Saint James’ in-the-City, a large, vital and progressive parish in the heart of Los
Angeles, announces the opening of its Director of Music position. Working in close
coordination with the church's clergy and administrative staff, the Director of Music
has direct involvement in and oversight of a program that includes weekly services and
a widely respected organ recital series. The renowned Choir of Saint James’ is at the
heart of the church's music program, supported by the impressive David Falconer
Memorial organ, both prominent fixtures on the Southern California musical scene.
OUR NEXT MUSIC DIRECTOR
Our ideal candidate is an expert church organist, with a minimum of five years of
experience serving as an organist in a liturgical church setting. The candidate should
also have at least five years of experience leading a choral program. The Director of
Music would also be responsible for leading the fundraising efforts of the music
department.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of Music position is a full-time exempt position which provides health,
dental, and vision insurance, as well as a robust retirement program. Salary range is
$115,000 - $135,000 (commensurate with experience). The Director of Music will
supervise the associate organist, assistant conductor, and the librarian.HOW TO APPLY

TIMELINE
Our search committee will convene on Saturday, February 28 to identify candidates
which they wish to interview via Zoom. These interviews will take place the week of
March 1. By Saturday, March 7, finalists will be notified and ideally will be flown out to
Los Angeles either March 13-15 or March 20-22. During this weekend, they will meet
with the clergy, will play organ at the Sunday service, and lead the choir. The finalist
will be notified on March 28 of their selection.
