JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Philanthropy and Grants serves as the principal fundraising officer and grants manager for the City of Dearborn Heights. This position is responsible for creating, executing and evaluating all philanthropy strategies and oversees all grant-related activities on a city-wide basis; This includes planning, directing or coordinating philanthropy and grant activities at the highest level of management with the help of department heads.
The appointee interacts in a consistently pleasant and helpful manner with fellow employees, visitors and citizens of the City of Dearborn Heights and demonstrates the highest standards of internal and external customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Develop and regularly evaluate the City’s philanthropic and grants strategy and management; make strategic recommendations to the Mayor and Council.
Effectively steward all donor and grantor funds; cultivate new potential partners. Make donor and potential donor appointments, calls, and visits.
Develop, write, administer, and monitor grant-funding opportunities to obtain additional sources of income from government agencies or from private/philanthropic resources in support of City programs.
Coordinate grant-related activities with City departments, City officials, outside agencies, or others as needed: report availability of grant funding opportunities to department heads, City Administrator, City officials, or related agencies.
Compile and assemble data, information and records related to departmental activity. Maintain personnel records and other documents as necessary, so that records handling and reporting functions are conducted according to City policy.
Prepare regular status and special reports as requested by the Mayor or City Council, and as required by other entities. Attend City Council meetings, completes special projects and makes presentations as requested.
Maintain cooperative relationships with other departments, peer agencies and other governmental units. Coordinate departmental activities with outside agencies and authorities as necessary.
Perform additional duties as required from time to time as requested by the Mayor, so far as may be consistent with the provisions of the Charter or ordinances.
