Description
OverviewMissouri Baptist University is seeking a part-time Head Coach for Men's & Women's Golf who has a vibrant Christian faith. The Head Coach will lead and oversee the assigned athletic program and recruiting while fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and personal development among student-athletes. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader with a passion for athletics, a commitment to student success, and the ability to inspire and mentor young athletes.
Experience Required
Previous collegiate coaching experience is preferred but not required.
Essential Responsibilities
Coaching and Training
- Developing and implementing training programs.
- Conducting practices and training sessions.
- Analyzing athletes' performances and providing feedback.
- Developing course strategies and playbooks.
- Monitoring the physical and mental condition of athletes.
Recruitment
- Scouting and evaluating potential student-athletes.
- Communicating with high school coaches and athletes.
- Organizing and conducting campus visits for recruits.
- Coordinating recruiting trips and attending high school and junior tournaments.
Administration and Management
- Managing budgets and ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
- Scheduling tournaments, practices, and travel arrangements.
- Overseeing equipment and facilities.
- Ensuring compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
- Maintaining records and statistics.
Mentorship and Student-Athlete Support
- Providing academic support and ensuring athletes maintain eligibility.
- Offering personal and career advice.
- Supporting athletes' overall well-being and development.
Public Relations and Community Engagement
- Representing the team and college at public events and functions.
- Engaging with the media and promoting the program.
- Participating in fundraising and alumni events.
- Building relationships with fans, boosters, and the local community.
The coach can hire graduate student assistants from the university to aid with the responsibilities listed.
Benefits
This part-time position does not include benefits. However, if the prospective candidate is willing and able to recruit and retain a roster of student-athletes that exceeds the department's expectations, this position could transition to full-time with benefits.
