OverviewABOUT ATHENS COUNTRY CLUB
Athens Country Club ("ACC") was established in 1946 on 120 acres at the gateway of the Piney Woods region. The executive style course stretches 5,811 yards with a driving range and chipping and putting facility. ACC is a semi-private club allowing guests to use the facilities if they are considered out of county for daily fee rates. ACC's website is www.athenscountryclub.org .
In addition to golf, ACC offers tennis, pickle ball, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and elegant yet relaxing dining. The clubhouse has multiple dining areas with the ability to entertain a party of up to 300 guests. ACC's friendly membership and professional staff hope to make you feel right at home, whether you live in the neighborhood or are visiting from the Metroplex. ACC has approximately 600 total members, with about 200 being golf enthusiasts.
ACC has robust Men's and Women's golf associations that help sponsor numerous fundraising tournaments throughout the year. ACC coupled with these two organizations continue to improve the golf course each and every year.
The Head Golf Professional ("Pro") will be responsible for overseeing and managing golf operations and services at Athens Country Club, working with the General Manager to further a strong culture of family, friendship, and professionalism throughout the club. Visibility and engagement are critical success factors for this role. The Golf Professional is expected to provide exceptional levels of service, develop and implement innovative programs, and maintain high member satisfaction.
Experience Required
- PGA of America Class A Member in good standing.
- 3 years of experience as a Lead Assistant or similar role at a private club of similar stature.
- Head Golf Professional experience is a plus.
- Outstanding leadership, management, and delegation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work well under pressure, coordinating multiple tasks at a given time.
- Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits.
- Proficient in operating Golf Genius event management platform; club-based POS/accounting/member billing systems; as well as other applications, i.e. email, internet, database, etc.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage golf operations and services, working with the General Manager
- Develop and implement innovative programs, events, and activities to retain membership levels.
- Serve as a skilled instructor and respectable playing ability, balancing instructional needs with operational needs.
- Develop and manage tournament schedules and golf activities for all members and guests, including children's golf camps.
- Drive high member satisfaction through exceptional golf experience.
- Work closely and respectfully with the General Manager and Club House Manager.
- Oversee golf course conditions, Golf Course Superintendent and staff, and work with the Golf & Greens Committee and MGA/WGA.
- Lead, mentor, and/or coach golf management staff.
- Execute modern management "best practices" of a high-performing club.
- Enforce ACC's policies in a firm but non-prejudicial manner.
- Own golf shop inventory and sales, and display merchandise attractively.
- Report directly to the General Manager.
- Perform all other golf-related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
