Position Summary
The Head Index Research & Design, Asia Pacific is a senior role in the Equities & Multi-Asset team in FTSE Russell which is part of the London Stock Exchange Group (LESG). The role, based in Hong Kong, reports to the Global Head of Index Research & Design. The Index Research & Design team is responsible for the development of equity and multi asset indices, index related and wider investment related research topics.
The team works closely with both internal front and back-office functions and FTSE Russell's partners and key clients, including major asset owners and asset managers in the creation of new products and supporting research. This involves the use of fundamental and quantitative techniques to design and provide equity and real asset index solutions and analysis. The team is global, with members in London, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taipei.
Working with a team of Research Analysts and key stakeholders from the Marketing, Policy, Product Management, Sales and Technology functions, the individual will play a key role in managing the Asia Pacific Equities & Multi-Asset business in collaboration with the Head of Product Management, Asia Pacific. The role focusses on driving and delivering the index product development strategy, associated research, and the promotion of FTSE's commercial offerings.
Role Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility include:
- In partnership with the Head of Product Management, Asia Pacific direct the business activities of the Asia Pacific region
- Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, lead the research and development of new products and index solutions
- Coordinate with the Product Management and regional Index Research & Design teams on the development of investment solutions and the delivery of product roadmaps
- Lead the development and growth of the product suite across key client segments, including Wealth channels
- Play a key role with client-facing teams and strategic clients in the marketing and promotion of new and existing equity indices
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the index product offering
- Drive process changes to achieve improvements in operational risk across the division
- It is expected that with limited supervision the individual will deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above, working to strict deadlines and to the highest degree of accuracy. The individual should therefore have:
- Deep knowledge of quantitative investment portfolio techniques, including portfolio simulation and construction approaches and risk and performance attribution.
- Extensive investment analytics experience of +15 years of working in or with buy or sell sides
- Strong knowledge and understanding of global financial markets and products, encompassing equities, multi-asset, currencies, and exchange-traded products
- Mathematical and statistical background with knowledge of Matlab, Python and SQL
- Post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline
- Track record of developing products from idea conception to benchmark creation and the ability to manage a team to strict deadlines with competing priorities to deliver
- Proven ability to work global clients including asset owners, investment consultants, and asset managers and a deep understanding of the investment process
- Excellent presentation and writing skills
- The ability to build consensus across key stakeholders and influence across all levels
- Ability to work in a demanding Front Office environment and cross-functionally with different teams within FTSE Russell and the wider LSE Group
