Description
The Institutional Giving Manager at The Washington Ballet oversees the cultivation and stewardship of donations from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations, playing a crucial role in driving the organization's mission. This position handles all facets of grant acquisition and management, from research and proposal drafting to reporting and compliance, as well as the development of corporate sponsorship proposals. Importantly, the Institutional Giving Manager actively cultivates relationships with foundation, corporate, and government partners.
Key Job Duties:
- Proactively identify and research potential grant opportunities aligned with the company's mission and programs.
- Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, ensuring they meet funder specifications and deadlines.
- Oversee the administration of grants, ensuring that funds are used for the intended purpose and in compliance with the grant agreement.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to grantors on the progress and financial status of grant-funded projects.
- Foster and maintain relationships with current and potential grantors, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Work closely with program, finance, and other teams to gather information needed for proposals and reports.
- Maintain a database of grants, track deadlines, and ensure all grant-related documents are appropriately filed.
- Stay updated on the latest regulations and best practices in grant management to ensure compliance.
- Assist in creating budgets for grant proposals and oversee grant financials post-award.
- Research corporate prospects for funding alignment.
- Prepare corporate proposals and maintain strong relationships with funding partners.
- Build relationships with government funding agencies.
- Attend and support TWB events.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on grant-related matters when necessary.
- Actively participate in creating a work culture that embodies the core values of TWB; Creativity, Commitment, Communication, Collaboration, Compassion, and Community
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of 3 year's experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of cultivating and securing five- to seven-figure gifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in donor database systems
- Grant writing experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
