POSITION OVERVIEW
Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum seeks a dynamic and experienced fundraising and marketing leader to serve as National Campaign Director for our “Remember Pearl Harbor” national capital campaign. This transformative campaign will fund critical restoration projects, education programs, and new visitor experiences that honor the legacy of Pearl Harbor and inspire future generations.
The National Campaign Director will lead and manage all aspects of the campaign, supervising campaign staff and consultants, and working in close partnership with the Museum’s Philanthropy and Marketing/ Communications teams, Board members, and the National Campaign Committee. The Director will also collaborate with the Museum’s Exhibits/Curatorial team and operational staff, and other project partners to translate institutional priorities into compelling donor opportunities.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished advancement professional, equal parts strategist and closer, who thrives on building relationships, shaping national campaigns, and connecting donors to mission. While the position is preferably based on Oahu, strong West Coast candidates open to regular travel are encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Leadership
- Leads the planning, management, and execution of the Museum’s national capital campaign.
- Delivers on a strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, foundations, and corporations
- Personally solicits and closes six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Manages campaign budgets, timelines, materials, and progress reports.
- Serves as primary liaison with campaign consultants and ensure alignment across museum departments.
- Integrates campaign fundraising efforts with ongoing annual philanthropic development efforts for seamless donor stewardship
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Builds and maintains a national prospect pipeline and moves-management system.
- Plans and hosts cultivation, recognition, and engagement events for donors and prospects.
- Provides timely reporting to campaign chairs, the CEO, and the Board on progress toward goals.
- Cultivates and leverages relationships with national partners, aviation and veterans’ organizations, and other appropriate groups to expand campaign reach and visibility.
Museum Collaboration
- Develops and manages the fundraising and marketing strategy for the “Remember Pearl Harbor” campaign in alignment with internal stakeholders and departments.
- Produces compelling print, digital, and social media content highlighting campaign milestones and donor impact.
- Ensures campaign branding and messaging aligns across Museum communications.
- Partners with internal and external teams to elevate the Museum’s national profile.
- Collaborates various groups, including but not limited to the Museum’s exhibit/curator, philanthropy, communications and capital projects teams, and exhibit designers, to align campaign activities, donor recognition, and capital improvements
- Translates exhibition and restoration priorities into compelling donor cases for support.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10–15 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including major-gift and capital-campaign leadership.
- Proven track record securing six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals, corporations, and/or foundations.
- Experience managing budgets, staff, and consultants.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to provide two (2) to three (3) examples of demonstrated campaign funding experiences you personally participated in or lead.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
- Knowledge of museum operations, aviation history, or cultural institutions preferred.

COMPENSATION
$120,000 - $150,000 annually – placement in pay range commensurate with experience, with relocation support considered
