Description
Masters of Coin is a 501(c)(3) organization that operates five VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) programs. VITA is an IRS-sponsored program that provide free tax preparation for low-income, elderly, and disavbled populations.
Although the position is an exempt position for purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the duties will require full-time employment of more than 30 hours per week, totaling 1500 hours per year. These hours are not necessarily spread evenly throughout the year. The bulk of the hours will occur between October and April for VITA training and tax season.
The duties shall include management and operation of the Organization’s VITA programs. The tasks below may be delegated through recruitment and training of volunteers to perform these tasks:
Volunteer management, training, and recruiting.
Recruitment of partners to provide facilities for the programs.
Obtaining other resources as necessary for the programs.
Raising funds through grants or donations for the operation of the Organization and its programs.
Providing financial management of the Organization’s resources, including grant management and required reporting to governmental entities and the Board of Directors.
Marketing the program through appropriate outlets including social media channels, promotional fairs and events, or other activities that promote VITA and the Organization.
Website maintenance.
Organizing Site Coordinator meetings.
Other duties that may be assigned by the Board of Directors to facilitate the operation of the Organization.
The CEO/President shall have authority to establish payroll services, employment tax reporting, and a 403(b) salary deferral program.
The position is entitled to four weeks’ paid vacation. No other benefits are conferred without express authorization by the Board.
The current salary is funded through IRS grant dollars. Salary is negotiable with the Board, but will require fundraising to support it.
Requirements
Knowledge of tax law is extremely helpful but not critical. Tax law training is available through IRS VITA resources.
