Program Director
Hybrid | $71,000/year | Full-Time Exempt
OVERVIEW
Camp del Corazon is a non-profit organization serving children with heart disease and their families. Our main program is a cost-free 5-day, 3 session residential summer camp on Catalina Island, sending over 300 children to camp each summer. Our other programs include a virtual summer camp, a leadership program for 18-25 year olds (P.A.C.E.), an educational symposium, and annual fundraisers.
- Schedule: Full-time 40 hrs/week, plus additional hours during events and programs; peak seasons require 1-2 evenings/week, additional days in office and some weekends
- Location: Mainly in our North Hollywood office; occasional travel within L.A., O.C., Catalina Island (Howland’s Landing) & S.D. and to our storage unit in Van Nuys; remainder remote (subject to specific season needs, scheduled events, and staffing)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Summer Camp (In-Person & Virtual)
- Manage volunteer leadership team and coordinate the development and execution of our 3-week summer camp program
- Oversee campsite operations: attend all Catalina residential camp sessions, schedule boat transportation, oversee campsite setup and breakdown
- Manage camper applications with the Executive Program Assistant
- Coordinate with medical team on camper medical review process supplies, and medical supplies
- Create, distribute, and analyze post-camp evaluations
- Manage Summer Camp marketing, outreach & social media
Volunteer Program
- Oversee management of volunteer staff including applications, interviews, hiring, training, activity team trainings and Staff Training Day with the Staffing Coordinator.
- Manage volunteer leadership team and support their development
- Directly supervise, select and train the Executive Program Assistant, Staffing Coordinator, Program Coordinator, P.A.C.E. Coordinators, Wellness Coordinator, VFC Program Coordinator
- Works in partnership with the volunteer medical team
P.A.C.E.
- Plan and execute the Annual Retreat, Campout, and PACEMAKERS service program
- Manage Retreat Coordinator and volunteer leadership staff
- Create, distribute, and analyze P.A.C.E. retreat evaluations
- Supervise P.A.C.E. outreach & social media
- Coordinate fundraising events and opportunities for P.A.C.E. volunteers
Other Camp Events/Fundraisers
- Plan and coordinate events with the Director of Events & Operations, such as Family Festival, Happy Heart Festival and Staff Appreciation events
- Collaborate with stakeholders on program content, speakers, and logistics
- Manage volunteer efforts with the Executive Program Assistant and Event Volunteer Coordinator
- Mobilize staff fundraising efforts and volunteers
- Coordinate supplies, transport, and program execution, including emcee duties
- Create, distribute, and analyze post-event evaluations
General Operations
- Develop calendars for annual program events and trainings
- Oversee truck/trailer upkeep, storage organization, and inventory management
- Support the Director of Development with marketing, outreach & social media efforts
- Develop, manage, and oversee program budgets and implementation in collaboration with the Director of Development
- Report regularly to the Board of Directors and stakeholders

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Supervisory experience managing groups including volunteer coordination, youth programs development, and tiered task delegation
- Experience with camps, youth programs and/or nonprofits
- Proficient in Excel, Google Suite, Canva, database management, learning new technology and tasks, social media; basic photo/video editing and graphic design
- Strong communicator with public speaking experience; organized, proactive, and adaptable self-starter
- Comfortable lifting 25 lbs (organizing & moving event/program supplies)
- Must be able to drive a truck with trailer (training provided)
- Must be able to reside on Catalina Island campsite for 13 days in August
- Must be able to attend P.A.C.E. retreat Memorial Day weekend in Glendale, CA
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required
