Description
Legal & Compliance (L&C) is seeking a highly capable and forward-thinking Senior Associate to take a leading role in strengthening our risk and control environment while driving innovation across the function. This role sits at the heart of two key priorities for L&C: maintaining a robust risk posture and accelerating the adoption of new technologies and smarter ways of working. You will be responsible for overseeing our Risk & Control Framework, ensuring our Self-Identified Issues (SIIs) are well-managed, transparently documented, and closed on time. In parallel, you will champion innovation initiatives-including those leveraging artificial intelligence-to enhance efficiency, reduce friction, and deliver meaningful improvements to how Legal & Compliance operates.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines risk expertise with a passion for technology-enabled transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Risk & Control Oversight
- Own and maintain the Legal & Compliance Risk & Control Framework, ensuring alignment with Group Risk standards and methodologies.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Group Risk colleagues, coordinating reporting, reviews, and deep dives as required.
- Ensure SIIs are properly logged, assessed, tracked, and remediated, with clear documentation and timely closure.
- Support and challenge control owners across L&C to improve the quality and effectiveness of controls, ensuring clarity of design, operation, and evidence.
- Contribute to the preparation of risk assessments (e.g., RCA, RCSA), audits, regulatory reviews, and internal governance forums.
- Identify emerging risks, propose mitigations, and support the function in adapting to regulatory and operational change.
- Lead and coordinate innovation initiatives across Legal & Compliance-including AI pilots, automation projects, and process optimisation efforts.
- Partner with Product, Technology, Engineering, Group Risk, Procurement, and business teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Manage small-to-medium-scale transformation projects, including scoping, requirements definition, governance, delivery planning, and benefits measurement.
- Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and modernise workflows.
- Develop materials, business cases, and recommendations for Function Board, L&C Leadership Team, and other governance bodies.
Essential
- Strong experience in risk management, compliance, operational risk, internal controls, or similar assurance-related roles.
- Understanding of regulatory expectations and governance frameworks within financial services.
- Proven ability to manage and remediate issues, with excellent judgement and attention to detail.
- Experience delivering change or innovation initiatives-technology-enabled or process-focused.
- Ability to translate sophisticated concepts into clear, action-oriented recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage competing deadlines, and influence without direct authority.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, or legal technology tools (e.g., document automation, workflow platforms, data analytics).
- Experience in Legal Operations, Compliance transformation, or cross-functional risk programmes.
- Understanding of LSEG's risk frameworks, governance structures, and tools (e.g., MetricStream).
What We're Looking For
A proactive, intellectually curious professional who thrives at the intersection of risk and innovation. Someone who is comfortable working with senior leaders, who can challenge constructively, and who enjoys shaping solutions that improve how our function operates.
You should be passionate about making Legal & Compliance more efficient, more data-driven, and better equipped to support LSEG's growth and transformation agenda.
Why Join Us?
