Description
Role Purpose:This role sits within the FTSE Russell Operations team, supporting FTSE Russell Index and Benchmark Solutions within the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). The Senior Index Review Analyst plays a meaningful role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial indices by conducting detailed reviews and assessments. They ensure that index methodologies are followed meticulously, and any vital adjustments are made promptly to reflect market changes accurately.
The Index Review team are ultimately responsible for the review, rebalance, and reconstitution of the FTSE Russell index / product portfolio. It is a global group, with teams in Hong Kong, Taipei, London, and Fort Mill. This position requires flexibility to work in all shifts, including Nights, demonstrating adaptability and dedication to fulfill job responsibilities around the clock.
Please note that the working hours for this position can vary as the business needs require. This means that weekend work, extended hours, and market holiday coverage can and will be encouraged to meet critical business Objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct the periodic rebalance process of indices and/or the associated implementation of any changes, as per review schedule.
- Implement adjustments to index methodologies, rebalancing criteria, or constituent selection criteria as needed to maintain index accuracy and relevance.
- Performing due diligence on Equities poised to Join FTSE Russell Indices involves assessing their liquidity and free float status to determine eligibility.
- Conduct data analysis on the results of index rebalances to ensure accuracy and quality of the changes of the review.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate and articulate the effects and impact of the index rebalance/reviews on end clients.
- Raise any issues/concerns to the line manager and report exceptions in a timely manner.
- Timely investigation and resolution of any client queries relevant to your role and areas of expertise.
- Document review findings, methodology changes, and rationale for adjustments in accordance with internal policies and industry standard methodologies.
- Using all available data sources including data vendors, stock exchanges and regulatory filings to research and analyze underlying security level data.
- Supervise ongoing index performance and conduct periodic evaluations to identify areas for improvement or optimization.
- Support the onboarding of new business to the team.
- Participate Actively in training and onboarding new team members.
- Promote partnership and collaboration across teams (including other offices), actively encouraging interaction and providing assistance to others where required.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in financial services, with a focus on index management, financial analysis, or investment research.
- Familiarity with index methodologies, portfolio management principles, and financial market operations.
- Knowledge of index construction methodologies (e.g., market-cap weighting, equal weighting, factor-based weighting) and rebalancing processes
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing financial indices (e.g., IOSCO principles, EU BMR).
- Advanced level Excel proficiency as well as experience with a structured programming language such as VBA or SQL.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

They should possess strong analytical capabilities, coupled with the ability to think critically, and address sophisticated problems. The candidate should be adaptable to fast-paced environments and demonstrate a proactive approach to staying updated on industry developments and standard processes. Leadership skills, including ability to mentor and support junior team members, are also highly valued.
