Senior Manager, Risk AssuranceAbout the Job
Operational Risk is responsible for 2nd line of defence risk management, control oversight, monitoring and reporting. It maintains an Operational Risk framework in line with industry best practise which incorporates independent Risk assurance, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Scenarios, Key Controls and Indicators and Incident Management.
What you'll be doing
- Performing high quality deep dive assurance reviews over risk themes identified during the course of Operational Risk activity.
- Verifying that the Bank's established policies, procedures and processes are adhered to and consistently applied for each review, to identify any potential gaps that could create operational weaknesses, and to formulate appropriate action plans to address.
- Reporting the results of risk assurance reviews to key stakeholders and to ensure that any operational risks identified are managed in accordance with ICBCS Group Operational Risk Policy (with reference to ICBCS Group Risk Appetite).
- Ensuring the risk assurance reviews reference the Operational Risk Management Framework, and that key findings are reflected via updates in the RCSA and Key Control and KI populations.
The role reports to the Deputy Head of the Operational Risk Team.
- Working with senior managers across the organisation, and in collaboration with the Compliance Assurance and Internal Audit teams, to agree and manage an annual book of work, including preparation of monthly and quarterly reports detailing progress on reviews and associated actions.
- Working with key stakeholders to agree and document scope of each review (background, objectives, approach, outputs, timeframe and key stakeholders), using a standard template.
- Working with key stakeholders (and on occasions other Operational Risk managers or 2 nd and 3 rd Line of Defence assurance teams) to perform assurance reviews, and assess, where necessary via the performance of sample testing, the design and operating effectiveness of the controls in scope
- Providing effective and credible challenge to businesses heads and support functions during the performance of reviews
- Ensuring that all assurance reviews are fully documented, utilising agreed templates. If issues are identified providing analysis of root causes, structuring potential solutions and working with key stakeholders to facilitate effective resolution.
- Presenting the output of assurance review activity to key stakeholders (including within the broader Operational Risk team), and submitting formal reports to relevant governance Committees.
- Providing guidance to other Operational Risk managers on effective approach to performance of assurance reviews.
- Building strong relationships with relevant business areas or supporting functions and monitoring changes in their operational risk profiles.
What you'll need to be successful
- Strong report writing skills to communicate key findings and recommendations clearly and succinctly
- Strong product knowledge, particularly in relation to Fixed Income and/or Commodities.
- Understanding of the full transaction lifecycle and associated process flows
- Understanding of Operational Risk framemwork and methodology
- Understanding of risks and controls, with the ability to apply expertise to detect and highlight potential issues and themes, and propose changes
- Comfortable dealing with senior management and building relationships with a variety of stakeholders and partners
- Prior audit, assurance or consultancy experience
