Description

JOB SUMMARY:

To support the mission of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona by driving institutional (corporate and faith-based) donor development/fundraising initiatives; manage a dynamic team of development professionals focusing on corporate groups and faith-based collectives. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Development Outreach & Fundraising

  • Direct and execute fundraising and development outreach strategies to secure institutional sponsors to support full scope of HFHCAZ initiatives including Home Ownership, Neighborhood Revitalization, Emergency Home Repairs, Veterans, Aging in Place, Habitat Construction Training Program, etc.
  • Direct solicitation strategy and recruiting of corporate and faith-based home sponsors for the full amount needed to meet revenue income goals set forth by the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Work closely with executive management, development colleagues and Volunteer Services staff to develop and maintain effective fundraising policies and practices.
  • Oversee execution of large-scale volunteer activities and events for sponsor employee groups.
  • Collaborate with Development Department colleagues on all special events. Direct event marketing sponsorship strategies and outreach to secure corporate prospects and current donors, as well as in-kind donations. 
  • Possess a strong ability to create and build innovative and unique fundraising campaigns specific to corporate groups and the faith community.  
  • Help increase sponsorship donations significantly by introducing new technologies and techniques to the organization. 
  • Define opportunities to present Arizona State Tax Credit and educate corporate/group donors.
  • Work closely with CDO and CFO to ensure funding and/or pledges are accurately recorded. 

General Management  

  • Understand and support the vision, values and mission of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona.
  • In collaboration with Development Department team members, prepare regular reports of corporate donors, house sponsor and faith-based gift activity and results against department goals.
  • In collaboration with Development Department team members, manage CRM database and reporting. Enter regular updates of prospect/donor outreach and touchpoints in a timely manner. 
  • Provide mentorship, training and spur outreach of Institutional Giving staff to faith-based communities and corporate partners. 

Communications Skills  

  • Demonstrate strong public speaking skills and an ability to present to large forums and groups with little notice.
  • Help create content for marketing materials and experience managing grass roots campaigns.
  • Build presentations and workshops to continue development and mentorship of fundraising team.  

Institutional Relations & Stewardship  

  • Provide excellent customer service to our donors and sponsors to create long-term relationships.
  • Monitor and follow up with all corporate and faith-based sponsors on their fundraising progress throughout the build to ensure full funding is received prior to the home’s completion.
  • Update Raiser’s Edge NXT database regularly and on a timely basis to maintain current and accurate information for our donors and home sponsors.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly public speaking to large groups.
  • Ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person, by telephone, and/or at community meetings; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to staff, volunteers, and others.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, growing and changing organization; multi-task and strategize fundraising strategies for the team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail a must.
  • Proven track record of non-profit donor development; prefer 5-plus years of experience in corporate or faith-based leadership role.
  • Positive personality, attitude, and professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software and online fundraising platforms preferred but not required. 

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven development and fundraising experience.
  • Management and supervisory experience strongly preferred.    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Nonprofit Management or equivalent work experience in non-profit development.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

  • Ability to sit at a desk or in a meeting for extended periods of time, often several hours.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours/week, occasional Saturdays, Sundays and evenings.
  • Ability to stand or walk for most of the day.
  • Ability to lift packages or event supplies, sometimes up to 30 pounds. 
  • Able to drive to meet with potential and/or current home sponsors; will require a current Arizona driver’s license, a clean driving record, automobile insurance (certain level of coverage is required to receive mileage reimbursement) and a trustworthy vehicle. 
  • Ability to visit current and future homeowners in their homes and communities. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:

  • The majority of duties are performed are in an office setting; however, there will be time away from the office when soliciting and/or meeting with potential and/or current Institutional Donors.
  • There may be periods of time spent on an undeveloped or construction site which may be of uneven terrain with exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, extreme temperatures, construction noises, fumes, and odors from construction materials.

  • Employee must be proficient in or able to use or learn to use office equipment such as computer, printer, phone, copiers, calculator, and other methods of communication.
