Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Senior Director of Advancement. The Senior Director of Advancement will be considered the second in command position for the office of Institutional Advancement. The position will work with the Associate Vice President on all aspects of the division, including planned, major and annual giving, alumni relations, advancement services, board relations and volunteer management. The position will play an active role in specific fundraising campaigns as designated by the AVP and will be the lead of all alumni relations for the campus.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors, with an emphasis on major gifts ($25,000+)
  • Oversee and execute corporate giving for the institution
  • Lead all alumni relations efforts, including the oversight of a 10 person council, execution of events and communications to alumni constituents
  • Lead, train and mentor three student workers
  • With the AVP, plan and execute annual and strategic plans for the division
  • Serve as the Advancement liaison to one of the three schools within Nevada State College
  • Attend internal and external events to represent the Office of Institutional Advancement and Nevada State College
  • Embrace a fast moving team environment and work with colleagues with a spirit of partnership, transparency and fiscal responsibility.
  • Support the AVP and the other members of the division in furthering the mission of Nevada State College


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in fundraising or alumni relations
  • Knowledge and experience in donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship or other equivalent/transferable knowledge
  • Documented results with soliciting and closing major gifts
  • Ability to work strategically and creatively with teams of faculty, staff and volunteers in raising major gifts
  • Knowledge of alumni relations strategies for success
  • Ability to work independently, in teams and with other divisions across campus
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas)

  • Masters Degree
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge software


Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000 Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
