Position Summary
At Momentum Wheels for Humanity, we're on a mission to create an inclusive world where everyone has access to mobility. We believe that mobility is a basic human right, and we're dedicated to making that right a reality for people with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries. As our Development Manager, you'll be an integral part of our team, responsible for implementing a fundraising strategy that engages individual donors, leverages digital campaigns and social media, and you’ll coordinate unforgettable events to support our mission.
You'll be a driving force behind our fundraising efforts, building relationships with donors and expanding our reach through innovative campaigns and compelling storytelling. You'll also be responsible for managing and growing our portfolio of family foundations, using your strategic expertise to ensure that we're maximizing our resources and making the most impact possible. As one of the key faces of Momentum Wheels for Humanity, you'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of passionate individuals who are all working toward the same goal—to make the world a more accessible and equitable place. You'll be responsible for coordinating our annual gala and other events, working to create experiences that inspire and engage our supporters. And you'll also play a critical role in managing our social media presence, creating content that showcases our impact and helps us connect with new audiences.

About Momentum Wheels for Humanity:
For over 25 years, Momentum Wheels for Humanity has been dedicated to transforming lives and increasing access to mobility for individuals with physical disabilities in over 50 low- and middle-income countries. We build and strengthen rehabilitation services within health systems through training and capacity building, policy and standards development, and supply and distribution of wheelchairs and other life-changing equipment.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive our fundraising efforts by creating and implementing innovative strategies that engage individual donors, leverage digital campaigns and social media, and coordinate unforgettable events to support our mission of increasing access to mobility for persons with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries.
- Manage relationships with donors giving $1,000 and under, developing targeted strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades that are aligned with our mission and values.
- Grow our portfolio of family foundations by developing relationships, submitting grant proposals, and providing regular reporting on the impact of our programs in the communities we serve.
- Coordinate events that raise awareness of our mission and inspire our community to take action, including our annual gala and other relevant events.
- Manage our Raiser's Edge donor database, ensuring data accuracy and utilizing data to analyze donor behavior and develop strategies for engagement and cultivation.
- Develop and manage our social media content generation, creating engaging content that drives awareness and support for our mission.
- Create and manage donor recognition programs, including acknowledgments and stewardship initiatives that highlight the impact of our programs on the lives of persons with disabilities.
- Collaborate with communications and programmatic teams to ensure alignment of fundraising efforts with organizational goals and messaging.
- Stay up-to-date on fundraising trends and best practices in the international development and disability sectors, sharing insights with the team and implementing new strategies as appropriate.
- Participate in regular performance evaluations and goal-setting processes, working collaboratively with the Executive Director to set and achieve fundraising targets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, international development, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, with a track record of success in donor engagement and relationship building in the international development sector.
- Experience managing and utilizing Raiser’s Edge is required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders in cross-cultural contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including programmatic teams in the international development and disability sectors.
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance and ethics.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Passion for the mission and values of Momentum Wheels for Humanity and a commitment to increasing access to mobility for persons with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries.
Working conditions:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Quarterly travel to our Los Angeles HQ office, if not based in Southern California, and periodic other travel as needed
- Willingness and ability to work outside the regularly scheduled work day as needed
