We are seeking a Director of Advancement to engage our community’s passion and leverage philanthropy to transform our students’ dreams into strategic reality.
The UNIS Hanoi Advancement Programme supports, celebrates and promotes Learning to Inspire. It engineers possibilities and connectivity for our learning community. It instructs and unleashes a joyful culture of philanthropy to advance the School’s Mission, reinforce its Values and realise its Vision for a better world.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advancement Programme at UNIS Hanoi is highly successful and deeply embedded within the structure of the School with a wide ranging portfolio to support the School’s Strategic Goals and Vision.
The Advancement Department is a high performing, motivated team that leads the School in the areas of: Institutional Philanthropy, Alumni Relations and Strategic Community Connection.
The programme is ready for its next phase of evolution and UNIS Hanoi is keen to recruit an experienced professional who can take the programme to the next level.
The Director of Advancement will continue to build a schoolwide culture of philanthropy, engaging our diverse global community in our sustainable programmes, growing their reach and impact with a compelling Case for Support, and leveraging inspirational leadership from our Head of School and Board of Directors to fulfil its Strategic Plan.

As the programme develops the Director of Advancement will continue to lead the annual community campaign and amplify major donor initiatives to develop a comprehensive capital campaign (for campus and endowment projects), solicit corporate and foundation support and build legacy giving with Alumni.
Philanthropy at UNIS comprises both fundraising for and project management of its programmes. This currently includes: Impact Fund (Solar Campaign), Scholarship Fund, Cultural Collection, Learning Together Fund (Professional Development) and Emergency Relief Fund.

Also, at the core of one of the School’s three Strategic Directions is the engagement and mobilisation of our inspirational global alumni community - our Mission in action in the world! The Director of Advancement is responsible for connecting and leveraging our alumni's engagement for the mutual benefit of the community and the School's Mission.
UNIS Hanoi believes in an integrated approach and the Director of Advancement will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Enrolment Management and their teams ensuring that the UNIS Hanoi brand is leveraged for the maximum impact across all the School’s programmes and to fulfil its Vision:
“Our learning community will be an inspirational role model for a better world.”

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Advancement will work closely with and report to the Head of School and will be part of the Senior Leadership Team for the School. By the invitation of the Head of School, they will also attend all Board Meetings.

Key to the success of the programme:
Work with the Head of School and Board of Directors to develop strategic long term plans and annual action plans which include meaningful measurement frameworks.
Design and implement exciting initiatives, aligned with the School’s Values and in support of the School’s Strategic Plan to fulfil the Mission and to support the School’s ambitions for its Vision.
Design and implement effective, personalised communications strategies to support the success of both Philanthropy and Alumni programmes in collaboration with the Communications Team.
Effectively manage and lead a dedicated team of professionals in the Advancement Office including annual goal/appraisal cycle and the team’s professional development.
Plan and manage the annual Advancement budget.
Build strong school-wide relationships to:
Further understanding around the School’s Advancement Programme
Support, leverage and amplify programmes and projects across Divisions
Identify opportunities to build relationships and create sustainable partnerships with both local and global community partners.
Ensure all Advancement programmes are aligned with best practice, legal expectations and conducted within the strong ethical expectations of our UN status.
Ensure the highest levels of data protection and CRM best practices managing the extensive alumni and philanthropy databases.

More specifically:

Institutional Philanthropy
Provide leadership, direction and management of all institutional fundraising campaigns.
Orient and engage the Board of Directors, administration, faculty, parents and students regarding the purposes and value of Advancement to build a culture of philanthropy in a highly transient international community.
Evolve the School’s Case for Support and prepare specific funding proposals and campaign collateral for individual, corporate and foundation support in collaboration with the Communications Team.
Ensure a strong donor recognition and stewardship programme with reporting mechanisms for donors and the community to include meaningful metrics.
Identify, train and manage a volunteer network to support the success of institutional philanthropy.
Guide the appropriateness and timing of all fundraising activities conducted for the school by its various constituencies. The Director of Advancement is also responsible for the coordinated management and alignment of community and student fundraising initiatives including our global alumni.

Alumni Relations
Maintain and build relationships with alumni in Hanoi, Vietnam and internationally.
Build a fully integrated programme to include former students as well as alumni parents, faculty and staff. Identify groups to benefit from special programme initiatives (eg. ‘Young Alumni’ or ‘Lost Alumni’).
Create a meaningful programme of events (in person and online) including social, service and career development opportunities.
Collaborate and co-create the developing networking, mentoring, internship and career programme connecting alumni with each other and offering High School students an exciting experiential programme.
Collaborate and co-create a growing ‘UNIS Ambassadors’ network to support Enrolment Management and Marketing initiatives.
Create opportunities to integrate alumni talent and expertise into the School's curricular, co-curricular, experiential, communications and recognition programmes.
Identify, train and manage a volunteer network to support alumni programmes.
Build Alumni giving to the School’s philanthropic programmes.

Strategic Community Connection
Leverage and amplify the school’s unique position as one of only two United Nations International Schools in the world in pursuit of the School’s Vision and Mission.
Proactively identify and develop partners locally and globally to connect with curricular, co-curricular, experiential, communications and recognition programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
MA preferred with degrees in Communications/Marketing and/or Finance/Business/Development
Minimum 5 years of experience at a programme leader/ Director level in an educational institution or similar organisation. International experience (especially Asian) is preferred.
Minimum 10 years experience in the Educational Advancement field (integrated disciplines included).
Advancement experience must include managing the full scope: Fundraising (including cultivation and stewardship in addition to successful solicitation), Event & Project Management, Communication (including institutional PR), Marketing, Alumni Relations, Community or Volunteer Programmes.
Demonstrated track record of strong leadership that is entrepreneurial, flexible, responsive, and diplomatic, including a track record of leading, managing, and developing a team.
Demonstrated success within a multicultural (and multilingual) context furthering a community’s sense of belonging.
Demonstrated evidence of their ability to:
Fundraise substantially and build a fundraising culture in the School
Build teams, including School and community partnerships
Communicate and collaborate effectively including; excellent verbal and written skills in a diverse community and the ability to represent UNIS Hanoi in public forums.
