The World Ocean School is an internationally focused nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing challenging educational programs by:
? Fostering an appreciation for, and obligation to, community and relationships

WE WILL FULFILL OUR MISSION ON THE SCHOONER ROSEWAY BY PROVIDING:
? A platform for experiential education on and around the sea
? A connection to maritime and environmental history
? Engagement in sail training as a method of teambuilding and individual development

? Restoring the confidence of young people in themselves, others, and the global community

Company History
The World Ocean School was incorporated in April, 2002 by Dwight Deckelmann and Abby Kidder as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Camden, Maine. In September of 2003, the National Historic Landmark Schooner Roseway was donated to the World Ocean School to serve as the program platform.
After a two-year restoration of the ship, the School embarked on the maiden voyage to the Great Lakes during the summer of 2005. This voyage was a trial for the ship as well as an opportunity to build support and exposure for the developing School.
May 2006 saw the relocation of Roseway and the World Ocean School to Boston, Massachusetts where program development continued as Roseway was open to the pubic for the summer season. In the fall, Roseway made her way to the U.S. Virgin Islands where she began her work with local youth groups and established her new winter home port.
