Description
Our client is a leading global private markets investment manager with approximately $50bn in assets under management across private equity and private credit strategies. As part of its continued growth across Europe, the firm is seeking to hire a Principal, Business Development - DACH to lead capital raising and investor relationship efforts across the German-speaking region.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with institutional investors across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, driving fundraising activities across the firm's private markets platform, with a particular focus on private equity fund-of-funds strategies and senior direct lending/private credit solutions.
This is a senior, externally facing role requiring a well-established institutional network and a demonstrable track record of raising capital from sophisticated investors across the DACH market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising and capital formation activities across the DACH region.
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan targeting institutional investors including pension funds, insurance companies, family offices, foundations, endowments and consultants.
- Originate new investor relationships whilst strengthening existing partnerships across the region.
- Drive fundraising efforts across the firm's private equity and private credit strategies, with an emphasis on:
- Private Equity Fund-of-Funds
- Secondary and Multi-Manager Solutions
- Senior Direct Lending
- Broader Private Credit Strategies
- Manage the full sales cycle from investor identification and qualification through to commitment and closing.
- Represent the firm at investor meetings, industry conferences, roadshows and networking events.
- Work closely with investment, product specialist, investor relations and senior leadership teams to deliver tailored investment solutions and messaging.
- Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and provide regular reporting on fundraising activity and market dynamics.
- Act as a key market ambassador for the firm across the DACH institutional community.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience within private markets fundraising, business development, investor relations or capital formation.
- Proven track record of successfully raising capital from institutional investors across the DACH region.
- Strong existing network across German, Austrian and Swiss institutional investors.
- Demonstrated fundraising experience across:
- Private Equity Fund-of-Funds
- Broader Private Equity Strategies
- Senior Direct Lending
- Private Credit
- Deep understanding of the DACH institutional investor landscape and allocation trends within alternative investments.
- Strong relationship management and business development capabilities with the ability to engage senior decision-makers and investment committees.
- Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while collaborating across a global platform.
- Fluent German and English are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established relationships with pension funds, insurance companies, consultants, family offices and other institutional allocators across DACH.
- Experience working within a global private markets manager, alternatives platform or placement advisory business.
- Demonstrable record of delivering fundraising targets and building long-term investor relationships.
