Description
Position Description Overview:
The Programs Manager manages all public programs and fundraising events. In this role, you will champion CHA's mission to advance learning and stewardship as Coronado's primary center for community history. The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented professional with nonprofit experience who can easily shift from designing programs to securing corporate sponsors and planning high-impact fundraising events. This is a fully on-site position based at CHA’s Coronado headquarters with no remote or work-from-home flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a vibrant and relevant program and fundraising calendar.
- Serve as the primary organizer for all CHA programming, including lectures, camps, tours, workshops, outreach events, and high-quality fundraisers aligned with annual revenue goals.
- Oversee the volunteer, docent, and internship programs in partnership with the Museum Coordinator, collaborating internally to ensure seamless and consistent museum and program operations.
- Manage CHA’s Education Committee to plan programming that connects exhibits to California State and District education standards.
- Partner with the Executive Director on promotional timelines, copywriting, and marketing designs.
- Evaluate program success against the museum's mission, creating data-driven impact and analytical reports. Track event revenue and expenses to manage budgets and achieve financial goals, and manage contracts and compliance requirements with external vendors.
- Cultivate regional partnerships with peer institutions, sponsors, and community organizations to strengthen CHA's local leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
- 2–5 years of experience in museum programming, education, or nonprofit event fundraising.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in history, museum studies, or education.
- Proven success planning, budgeting, and executing public programs, tours, and fundraisers.
- Strong organizational, volunteer management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate easily with staff, board members, and partners.
- Existing relationships with the Coronado community is a plus.
